After the recent episode of the mega leak of personal data of more than 220 million people (see https://www.mazzuccoemello.com/policia-federal-investiga-o-maior-vazamento-de-dados-da-historia-do-brasil/), a new data leak has been discovered that may have resulted in the exposure of more than 100 million mobile phone accounts.
According to information released by a cybersecurity company, the leaked personal data was available for purchase on dark web since February 3, with the option of individual or package purchases, with prices starting at US$$ 1 per personal data. Among the leaked information were data from President Jair Bolsonaro and presenters Fátima Bernardes and William Bonner.
The leak exposed data such as CPF, telephone number, minutes spent on calls, as well as other personal data.
Initially, it is speculated that the leaked data belongs to users of the Claro and Vivo operators, which claim not to have identified any flaws in the system that could have resulted in the leaking of their customers' information.
The hacker told the cybersecurity company that he had data from 57.2 million Vivo telephone accounts and 45.6 million Claro accounts.
The National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) should be contacted in the coming days by the cybersecurity company to conduct the investigation into the leak.
