Debenture market on the rise in the first quarter of 2022

May 29, 2022

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has generated global instability. Since the beginning of the war, the shortage of energy sources and the increase in the price of oil and commodities have contributed to the escalation of prices in the world and in Brazil.

In the first quarter alone, the amounts issued showed an increase of 85% compared to the same period in 2021, in addition to corresponding to approximately 51% of the total amount issued in the current year – data presented in the Economic Bulletin of the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM).

According to experts, the credit risk of the large infrastructure company – the issuer of the incentivized debenture – failing to pay its debt is currently low. The biggest risk for the investor is the market risk, that is, the fluctuations in asset prices due to different factors: politics, conflicts, changes in external and internal scenarios, inflation, etc. It is the strategy of each manager that will take advantage of these market moments and make the investment yield more for the investor.

There was also an increase in the number of regulated entities, which increased by 3.4% compared to the end of 2021, totaling 74,234 participants. This means that all categories showed growth, with emphasis on Autonomous Investment Agents (increase of 7.5%) who total 19,503 registered participants.
