Central Bank of Brazil extends deadline for submitting declaration of Brazilian Capital Abroad

Due to COVID-19, the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB) extended the deadline for the annual declaration, with a base date of December 31, 2019, from April 5, 2020 to July 1 of the same year.

In turn, the quarterly declaration, with a base date of March 31, 2020, which should be submitted by June 5, 2020, was extended to July 15.

The annual declaration is mandatory for all individuals or legal entities, headquartered or resident in Brazil, who have assets abroad in the amount equal to or greater than US$100,000, on the base date of December 31, 2019.

The quarterly declaration is mandatory for those who have assets abroad in the amount equal to or greater than US$100 million, on the base dates of March 31, June 30 and September 30 of the year 2019.
