On June 23, 2022, the well-known electronics chain Fast Shop acknowledged through its official Twitter account that it had suffered a cybercriminal invasion of its system. Given this situation, it became necessary, as a preventive measure, to temporarily take its website and application offline.
This unavailability ended up impacting the operation of physical stores and, consequently, caused concern for customers, since hackers gained access to the store's digital media, reaching services such as AWS, Azure, IBM and GITLAB, which allowed the collection of personal data information from the group's customers and partners.
After the criminals confirmed that they had access to employee data, much of which was confidential, the group demanded a certain payment via Telegram in exchange for not disclosing this valuable material.
Blog Tilt contacted Fast Shop, who ended up confirming the attack again, claiming that it was an “attempt to access the company’s systems without authorization”. Furthermore, in a note provided to the Blog, it stated that: “As a preventive measure, the company activated the security protocols, and for this reason, the website and the app were temporarily unavailable, but they have now been restored and are functioning normally”.
As previously reported, physical stores were also affected, but were restored to normal operations throughout the country after the weekend of the attack. Finally, Fast Shop also announced that the company's entire system base underwent a strong security process in order to reassure customers about the data leak, claiming that there was no damage to them.
This is yet another hacker invasion event, with the aim of obtaining personal data from millions of Brazilians, since the store in question sells numerous cutting-edge products on the national market.
