Hacker Group stands out for its involvement in numerous global episodes and highlights the international technological fragility of data protection

Anonymous is a hacker group that calls itself activists for digital freedom. As the name suggests, it is a collective of 'unknown individuals' who value supposedly beneficial activities when it comes to popular freedom, and repudiate the actions of national representatives. They are currently considered the most powerful non-governmental hackers in the world, and a clear example of this group's participation involves the shutdown of social media accounts that promoted and supported the Islamic State.

In recent times, Anonymous' participation has become increasingly frequent, including Brazil, which in mid-2021 was one of the main hubs of hackers' actions, who, contradicting the president's narratives, allegedly threatened him under the allegation of having infiltrators within the government. On September 7, 2021, the cyber-activists called for popular demonstrations against the Brazilian government in a video released after the hacking of the FIB Bank system, due to several threatening statements referring to coups d'état and suspicions regarding the national election process.

A year earlier, the world was in turmoil due to the brutal murder of George Floyd in the United States after a serious police approach. Anonymous, also in a video posted on the social network Twitter, threatened to expose US authorities and all crimes committed by the American police. After the short film was published, the Minneapolis police website was hacked and taken offline, as were police radios in Los Angeles, where threatening songs by the group NWA were played simultaneously, whose lyrics refer to criticism of police approaches against black people in the 1990s and which continue to this day.

Currently, in 2022, the group has become ready and declared cyberwar against Russia after the country invaded Ukraine. The hackers were responsible for hacking the Russian state television system, RT News, in addition to taking down several official government agencies digitally. In addition, Anonymous reportedly managed to discover Russian plans related to mass bombings against Kiev, the Ukrainian capital, through restricted access.

All these facts denote the fragility of the digital world in relation to the privacy of private and public bodies, national and international, with an emerging need to deepen investments and studies on the feasibility of data protection standards in a jurisdiction that transcends borders, since virtual communication between countries is more than a reality.
