Last Monday, November 30, the Superior Court of Justice launched an exclusive page on its website to provide information about the General Data Protection Law (LGPD).
The page can be accessed via the link https://www.stj.jus.br/sites/portalp/WebPub/NovoPortal/LGPD.aspx, or by accessing the “Laws and Regulations” tab in the portal’s main menu.
The implementation of the page complies with Recommendation 73/2020, of the National Council of Justice, which recommends that the bodies of the Judiciary adopt measures and actions to guide and inform the population regarding compliance with the LGPD.
The page provides information about lectures, main points of the LGPD, STJ actions to comply with the legislation, a glossary with the main terms brought by the LGPD, in addition to the rules related to the subject.
The General Data Protection Law came into force on September 18, after many changes and uncertainties, and has already had a great impact among consumer protection agencies, which have already strictly demanded that data operators and controllers comply with the provisions of the new legislation.
The President of the Superior Court, Minister Humberto Martins, in a lecture on 21.09.2020 stated that “for rights to be guaranteed, there must be continued vigilance”. The full content of the Minister's position regarding the LGPD can be found on the STJ website.
