Put Marcos Francisco Vilas Boas Buzo – 15/04/2020 The Central Bank of Brazil (“BCB”), through Circular No. 3,998, published on April 9, 2020, reduced the capital requirement for operations intended for small and medium-sized companies. Previously, financial institutions should apply 100% of the Risk Weighting Factor for small and medium-sized companies. Now, this percentage increases to 85%. With this measure, the BCB expects to release R$$ 3.2 billion from financial institutions to be used in new operations. It is worth noting that the change will only be valid for new credit operations that must be entered into between March 16, 2020 and December 31, 2020, with companies with annual revenues of R$15 million to R$$ 300 million.
