Brazilian companies must assess psychosocial risks from May 2025

December 4, 2024

Starting in May 2025, all Brazilian companies will be required to include psychosocial risk assessment in their Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management processes. This requirement is the result of the update of Regulatory Standard No. 1 (NR-1), promoted by the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE) in August 2024.

Psychosocial risks refer to factors related to the organization of work and interpersonal interactions in the workplace. They include situations such as excessive targets, long working hours, lack of support, bullying, interpersonal conflicts and lack of autonomy at work. These elements can lead to mental health problems such as stress, anxiety and depression.

With the update, employers will be required to identify and assess psychosocial risks in their work environments, regardless of the size of the company. If they are detected, it will be necessary to develop and implement action plans that include preventive and corrective measures, such as reorganizing work or improving interpersonal relationships. In addition, the actions taken must be continuously monitored to assess their effectiveness and reviewed whenever necessary.

Our office is fully qualified to guide companies in implementing the requirements of the new NR-1. We offer consulting services to identify and assess psychosocial risks, develop effective action plans and ensure compliance with OHS standards. In addition, we assist in training teams and developing internal policies that promote a healthy and productive work environment.

Adopting these measures not only ensures legal compliance, but also contributes to improving the organizational climate and employee well-being. Contact us to find out how we can help your company adapt to the new requirements and promote mental health in the workplace.
