Federal Revenue and the Attorney General's Office of the National Treasury establish a new extension of the validity period of joint certificates of tax compliance

July 15, 2020

Put Mariana Martins – 15/07/2020

Joint Ordinance RFB/PGFN No. 1,178/2020 was published in the Official Gazette of July 14, 2020, extending the validity of the decree for another 30 days the validity period of Negative Certificates of Debts relating to Federal Tax Credits and the Union's Active Debt (CND) and Positive Certificates with Negative Effects of Debts relating to Federal Tax Credits and the Union's Active Debt (CPEND), due to the impacts caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The validity period of said certificates had already been previously extended by Joint Ordinance RFB/PGFN No. 555 of 03/23/2020, which had stipulated that certificates already valid on the date of its publication (03/24/2020) would have their validity extended for 90 days, a benefit that expired at the end of June.

It should be noted that the new extension only applies to certificates already issued and which are still valid.

Tax compliance certificates are essential for the activity of some business companies, especially those that contract with the government, which is why it is necessary to regularly manage tax issues in order to avoid any obstacles at the time of renewal.
